01January
Organize and put away holiday decor — pack it up sorted and labeled as you take it down, so next December you’re not digging through a jumbled bin.
Organize your pantry — a fresh start on the space you use every day. Toss anything expired, group like with like.
02February
Change your HVAC filter — a clean filter protects your whole system and keeps your power bill down.
Check your outside faucets and hose bibs — hard freezes are rare here, but worth a quick look before one catches you off guard.
03March
Turn on and test your irrigation system — check every zone, straighten any tilted heads, reset your timer.
Clean your gutters — clear out winter’s leftover leaves and debris before spring rain arrives.
04April
Enjoy Azalea Festival — no maintenance this month, just a note to plan around downtown traffic and parking.
Prune your azaleas and camellias — right after they finish blooming (basically now), it’s the best time to shape them without cutting off next year’s flower buds.
Give them a light feeding — a dose of fertilizer in late spring helps them recover from all that blooming and sets up an even better show next year.
05May
Test your generator (if you have one) — before you actually need it.
Stock fresh batteries — flashlights, radios, a few days’ worth.
Service your AC — before the real summer heat hits and everyone else is booking appointments.
Check your hurricane supply kit — water, non-perishables, medications, pet needs.
06June
Test your smoke detectors — press the test button on every one; replace weak or dead batteries.
Flush your water heater — clears sediment buildup so it runs efficiently and lasts longer.

Clean your dryer vent — lint buildup is one of the most common, most preventable causes of house fires.
Check gutters and downspouts — make sure water drains away from your foundation before peak storm season.
08August
Change your HVAC filter
Do a quick house reset — entryway, pantry, fridge — before the back-to-school rush.
Sort through the kids’ closets — check what still fits (and what doesn’t) before you hit the stores, so your back-to-school list is what you actually need, not a guess.
09September
Confirm your insurance is current — know your coverage and deductible, and have recent photos or video of your home and belongings saved somewhere other than just your phone.
10October
Enjoy Riverfest — no maintenance required, just a great weekend downtown.
Clean your gutters again — a second pass as fall leaves really start dropping.
Pull out the Halloween decor — give string lights and any electrical pieces a quick check before they go up outside.
11November
Turn off (or blow out) your irrigation system — before the first hard frost, to prevent cracked pipes.
Check smoke detector batteries — easy to remember the same week the clocks change.
Change your HVAC filter — one more before heating season kicks in.
12December
Get your holiday décor organized — pull the bins down early and sort what’s still in good shape from what needs replacing (looking at you, tangled string lights), so setup weekend is all decorating, no digging through boxes.
Give your fireplace a once-over — if it’s getting extra use this time of year, make sure the damper’s open and the area around it is clear before you light it.
